In the spring of 2007, Steve and Jackie travelled to Hungary for an eight-day holiday. It was a group trip, organised by The Travelling Naturalist Holidays. Their leader was Tim Earl and they had a local guide, Gabor Orban. Starting from Budapest and heading east, the group first travelled to the forested Zemplen Hills and then on to Hortobagy National Park, a huge area of steppe and wetlands. The group sought out much of the diverse fauna and flora of this part of Eastern Europe, and had a lot of fun.
