In 2023, Steve and Jackie visited Sri Lanka on a group trip with Naturetrek. They followed a clockwise route from the capital, Colombo, visiting the sacred ancient city of Anuradhapura, followed by Sigiriya, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya. Further south, they visited the national parks of Yala, Bundala, and Udawalawe before their final destination of Sinharaja Forest Reserve. The focus of this account is the natural history encountered on the island.
