In February 2026, Steve and Jackie visited Ghana on a guided tailor-made tour organised by Naturetrek Ltd. They followed the same itinerary as a group trip run by the same company which has as its title, the names of two key targets, viz. “Picathartes and Pangolins”. The former is the frequently-used name by birders, for the White-necked Rockfowl, which is one of only two species in a family of birds which would be new to Steve and Jackie. Most of their time was spent in the intense heat and humidity of the West African rain forest where, as well as many spectacular birds, the butterfly “sideshow” was also impressive!
