In September 2025, Steve and Jackie flew to Bali via Singapore and then on to Sulawesi to visit a remote conservation area where a very successful project has saved the critically-endangered national bird, called the Maleo. Back in Bali, they joined an expedition cruise ship, the Heritage Adventurer, for a nineteen-day exploration of many of the lesser-known islands of the Indonesian archipelago, along with parts of West Papua. The cruise finished in Madang, Papua New Guinea but the tour concluded with a charter flight to Australia (Cairns). After a few days in that area they flew down to the Sunshine Coast to stay with friends, before flying home from Brisbane.
