In March 2024, Steve and Jackie embarked upon a twenty-nine day expedition cruise for birders, from New Zealand to Japan, on board the Heritage Adventurer, which is owned by the New Zealand company, Heritage Expeditions. As well as an abundance of seabirds, they saw many endemic land species as they visited a number of small islands including Norfolk Island, New Caledonia, several of the Solomon Islands, Chuuk Lagoon and two off the coast of Japan. To break the long outward journey to New Zealand, Steve and Jackie also spent three nights in South Korea.
